Small Child's Understanding Of The Lord's Prayer --- 3 - year-old, Reese prayed: "Our Father, Who does art in heaven, Harold is His name. Amen."

Small Child's Explanation Of The Tenth Commandment --- A Sunday school class was studying the Ten Commandments. They were ready to discuss the last one.

The teacher asked if anyone could tell her what it was. Susie raised her hand, stood tall, and quoted, "Thou shall not take the covers off the neighbor's wife."

Another Small Child On The Lord's Prayer --- I had been teaching my three-year old daughter, Caitlin, the Lord's Prayer for several evenings at bedtime, she would repeat after me the lines from the prayer. Finally, she decided to go solo. I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word right up to the end of the prayer: "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us some E-mail.

Small Child On "Transgressions" Lord's Prayer --- One particular four-year-old prayed, "And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."

Webmaster's Note:This last "child's understanding of the Lord's Prayer" is more or less based on the traditional wording of the prayer taken from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, 1662, reprinted below, and is NOT an exact copy of the KJV wording.

The Lord's Prayer Words (traditional)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

(from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, 1662)
