A GIVING LOVE

“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”

1 Corinthians 13: 13 King James Version

There is a song with the words “Give of your best to the Master”. Jesus gave His very best to us; His own life as He hung there on the cross paying the debt that we could never pay. He paid with His own blood for our sins so that we may have the forgiveness of sins and the assurance of a home in Heaven with Him for all eternity. I think the question each one of us needs to ask ourselves is “Am I giving my best to Jesus”?

Jesus loves us so much that He willingly died for us so that we may live. Every day He gives us forgiveness, compassion, tenderness, mercy, grace, understanding, encouragement and comfort. If He does this for us, how much more we should give these to our families, our loved ones and to the world. Indeed, Jesus not only gives us love; He is a giving love.

One day our Heavenly Father looked down and saw the terrible condition that the world was in and His heart was filled with compassion for us so He gave His only beloved Son to die for us. His love for us is a giving love. How it must hurt Him to see the way that His Son is treated! He listens as people curse His Son and He watches as people reject His Son. I think that He sheds tears of pain when He sees His Son mistreated and rejected.

How much love do you have in your heart today for your family, for your loved ones and friends, and for the world? More important than that, how much love do you have in your heart for Jesus, the one who gave His life for you? Do you love Jesus with every breath that you take?

Are you telling people about the unconditional love of Jesus? If you are not telling people every day that Jesus loves them then you are hurting Him and making Him very sad. One day you will stand before a Holy God and give an account of why you didn’t tell people every day that Jesus loves them.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to have to hang my head in shame knowing that not only did I not tell others of the precious unconditional love of Jesus, but that I hurt Him. What condition is your heart in today? When Jesus looks in your heart does He see forgiveness and compassion for others?
