A HOME FOR JESUS

“Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.”

Exodus 15: 1, 2 King James Version

No matter what trials, crises and heartaches we have in our lives, Jesus is able to triumph in every situation and bring us through them into victory. We can trust Him to restore peace and joy to our wounded hearts and lives. Our blessed Saviour not only saves us from our sins, He also saves us from the poisonous darts that satan and the world hurl at us.

I think that all of us at one time or another in our lives have felt the sharp cutting remarks of criticism, sarcasm, ridicule and judgment. If we would ever come to the realization that we are to be encouragers to one another instead of discouraging each other, we would have a peace and harmony that the world has never known.

Jesus is preparing a home for us in Heaven. Are we preparing a home for Him in our hearts? If so, what kind of home are we making for Him? Have we given Him all of our hearts, or have we shoved Him into a little closet in our hearts and closed the door so He can’t move around freely in our hearts? He is preparing mansions for us and yet often all we prepare for Him in our hearts is a couple of hours a day for Him and the rest of the day we spend pursuing our own interests and schedules.

We are an arrogant people at times. We become so puffed up with our own lives and with what we think is important and has to be done that we put Jesus on the shelf and only take Him down when we need something or an emergency arises. May God forgive us for treating our precious Saviour like He is a puppet and all we have to do is pull His strings when we want Him to perform for us.

Have you made a home for Jesus in your heart? If so, does He have your whole heart or just what you want to give Him? If you have never invited the Christ of Calvary into your heart to be your personal Saviour, please don’t wait. Say “yes” to Jesus even as you read this before it is too late. We foolishly think that we can put it off and do it tomorrow. For some of us, there won’t be a tomorrow. Where are you going to spend eternity, in Heaven with Jesus, or in hell with satan?
