I was watching a Gaither Homecoming Video tonight and some of those dear people who I have grown to love through the years have gone Home to be with Jesus. Fifteen years ago, I had taken a full bottle of sleeping pills and put them in my hand trying to get up the courage to take them. There were two things that stopped me. One was what it would do to my sister, and the other was Gloria Gaither singing “Because He Lives”. The words to that beautiful song are stamped permanently on my heart and I made them personal to me. I sent Gloria a letter telling her how God had used her.
“Because You live, Joanne can face tomorrow. Because You live, all fear is gone. Because I know You hold Joanne’s future and life is worth the living just because You live.” Gloria and all of these wonderful gospel singers are leaving a legacy of love. A legacy filled with the Love of Jesus for a dying and hurting world.
The money we make, the big beautiful homes we have, the luxurious cars that we have, the heated swimming pools that we have, and all the worldly possessions that we have will never take the place of leaving a legacy of love for your family and friends.
We need to open our hearts wider and let our families and friends know how much we love them and how much they mean to us. Jesus left us the greatest Legacy of Love when He gave His Life for us. How can we do less than what Jesus did for us?
