A LITTLE PEBBLE

“And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!”

Matthew 27: 29 King James Version

A couple of days ago as I was walking back to my trailer from the mailbox, I got a little pebble in my shoes. I only had to walk about sixty more steps but with every step the pain was worse. This verse came to my mind about the crown of thorns they put on our Saviour’s head. The pain that He must have felt is beyond description. Yet, as agonizing as the crown of thorns was on His head, I think the pain in His heart was worse.

They bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him saying, “Hail, King of the Jews”. Many times we are guilty of doing the same thing. We bow before Him and acknowledge Him as our King, yet we give our allegiance to the world and to material possessions. We pray and ask Him to help us but often we don’t believe that He is capable or will do it. We make a mockery of His position as our Saviour, Master, Lord and King.

Even as my foot was hurting the other day because of the pebble that was in my shoe, I was thanking Him that I had a foot to hurt. If we will focus on all the things He has done for us, the pain will be less and we will still have a reason to thank and praise Him. Jesus has done so much for us and He continues to do so much for us every day of our lives. He is a faithful Saviour who really cares when we are hurting.

Do you have pebbles of sin in your heart? Has there ever been a time when you asked Jesus to forgive you and come into your heart to be your personal Saviour. If not, I urge you to do it now. He is waiting with a heart of Love for you.
