ALMOST DIED

“Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”

Genesis 3: 16 King James Version

As I read this verse this morning, I realized for the first time that this verse tells about the pain and sorrow that women have when giving birth to children and John 3:16 tells about the pain and sorrow that Jesus endured when He gave birth to us on the cross. Some may say that it is a coincidence that one verse is found in the third chapter and the sixteenth verse of Genesis and the other verse is found in the third chapter and sixteenth verse of John. I believe God planned it this way. I have read both of these verses countless times since I gave my heart to Jesus and was born again into the family of God but I never connected the two verses until this morning.

When I gave birth to my daughter I had a very difficult time and I was in labor for almost two days. Even with all the medicine they gave me the pain was almost unbearable. After my daughter was born and the nurse left the room, I read my chart and the doctor had made this entry “Patient almost expires on the delivery table while giving birth”. That really frightened me and made me think about how I was living my life.

As I thought about my life that day, I realized that I was a sinner. I was embarrassed and felt a lot of shame and had many regrets for the hateful way that I had treated people. I admitted to Jesus that I was a sinner and on my way to hell for all eternity without Him. I gave my heart to Him that day and asked Him to forgive me and come into my heart and be my personal Saviour.

I almost died that day giving birth to my daughter, but Jesus did die that day on the cross when He paid the price for our sins and gave birth to unconditional love. By His sacrificial death, pain, agony, humiliation and His atoning cleansing blood, He purchased our salvation and bought our forgiveness, salvation, grace, mercy, kindness, tenderness and understanding. He paid a price that we could never repay.

The most amazing thing to me about that day of love when He died for us is that He could have come down from the cross. All the nails and all the people in the world together could not have kept Him on the cross if He had changed His mind while in such agony and decided it wasn’t worth the pain. It was love and love alone that made Him choose to stay on that cross of torture and humiliation.

Have you accepted the sacrifice that Jesus made for you that day on the cross? Have you admitted that you are a sinner and on your way to eternity without Him? If you have never invited Him into your heart, you have no hope and you will never know real love or have real peace in your heart.

Open your heart to Jesus and ask Him to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart and be your personal Saviour. Unless you have been born again through the cleansing atoning blood of Jesus and unless you have a personal relationship with Him, you are lost in your sins and will spend all eternity in hell without Him. The most important thing is that you will break His heart as He is waiting for you with a heart full of love and His arms open wide.
