ALMOST TOO LATE

“But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.”

Deuteronomy 3: 28 King James Version

It is very difficult for me to type this devotional because the tears are flowing down my face so fast that I have to keep stopping and wiping them from my eyes. I just watched a family program on television which touched my heart deeply. It was about a lady who had been injured and her friend who was taking care of her.

The man had taken care of his friend for years but he was hurting because the way she treated him, he didn’t think she liked him or appreciated what he did for her. He had an operation and through a blood transfusion he got AIDS. He decided to go back to his country because he didn’t want her to know and didn’t want her to see him dying.

Someone told her that her friend who had been so faithful all those years taking care of her every need and who had always tried his best to be an encouragement to her had AIDS and was dying and didn’t want her to know. In the last scene it showed them together and she finally told him how much she loved him and how much she appreciated all he had done for her those many years. She denied to herself that she loved him and she put off telling him that she loved him for so long that it was almost too late.

There are many people who are dying inside emotionally and they don’t want anyone to know, mainly because it hurts too much to think about it, much less talk about it. We don’t want others to see how badly we are hurting so we put on a smile, but inside we are raw and bleeding with despair and agony. We can fool others but we will never be able to hide from Jesus. He sees what others can’t see; He sees the tears of agony that we keep bottled up inside. He is the only one who can take the pain away. However, we are to love one another and be encouragers to one another.

One day it will be too late to tell your loved ones and friends that you love them. Even as I write this devotional, there are people who are committing suicide or thinking seriously about it. In the light of this tragedy, nothing else matters. Telling others of the Love of Jesus and telling them that we love them must be top priority in our lives. If it isn’t, then we need to search our hearts and ask Jesus to help us prioritize our time and daily activities so that we can be the encouragers that He not only has called us to be, but has commanded us to be to each other.

One day the trumpet will sound and Jesus will return. If you haven’t made a heart commitment to Him and invited Him into your heart to be your personal Saviour, it will be too late. Not only will you miss out on going to Heaven to be with Jesus for eternity, you will break His heart. He Loves you and proved His Love by allowing them to crucify Him. Please don’t wait another minute! If you haven’t asked Jesus to be your personal Saviour, do it now before it is too late!
