ALWAYS WITH US

“O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”

Psalm 139: 1 - 3, 7 - 10 King James Version

Our hearts are heavy this morning as we think about all of the precious people in California who are facing the threat of evacuation due to the fires. So many have already had their homes destroyed by the fires. Jesus gives us good news! He has promised us that He will never leave us, not even for a minute.

No matter where we go or what crisis we are going through, He is with us and will hold our hands and walk with us through every crisis and every heartache. He will walk with us through the valleys of discouragement and heartaches. He will also be faithful to once again set us on the mountain tops of joy, peace and happiness.

I think a lot of us are wondering why such terrible things like fires, hurricanes, earthquakes and tornados occur. In the past two years, I have received several emails asking me why God doesn’t stop these terrible things when He has the power to do so. I have told all of them to ask Jesus; that I don’t have the answers they are seeking.

I think that Jesus also wondered why He had to die for us. Of course, He knew why He was crucified but I think He wondered why people despised Him so much that they rejected Him, cursed Him, spat on Him, beat Him and mocked Him. He had never done anything to hurt anyone yet He was treated worse than any person has ever been treated or ever will be treated. All He wanted to do was give His love to people.

If you have ever reached out in love to somebody and been rejected, then you have just a fingernail’s grasp of what our precious Saviour endured for us. If today you are in the middle of a heartbreaking and frightening situation, you are not alone because Jesus is with you and He will not leave you. Call out to Jesus and ask Him to help you and to comfort you. He knows how you feel and He is longing to encourage you and comfort you but you have call upon Him.

Thank God for our precious Saviour, the one who loves us so much that He died for us. Yes, Jesus is always with us. No matter where we go, He is with us. I think the question we should ask ourselves is “Am I always with Jesus? Do I include Him in everything that I do and every place I go?”

We want Him to be there for us so we should be there for Him. Are you there for Him when He calls you to do something or are you so involved in things that you can’t even hear Him when He asks you to do something? Is your heart open to hear His call? Are you always there for Jesus?
