ANCHORED ON THE ROCK

“Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour, there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else.”

Isaiah 46: 21, 22 King James Version

I received a couple of emails yesterday from people who said that Jesus does not live in us; that the Holy Spirit lives in us. They are correct, but I was also correct because if you will read your Bible you will find that it says “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7) To say that Jesus does not live in us is to say that the Bible is not true and denies that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one. In the verses at the beginning of this writing it says “and there is no God beside me; a just God and a Saviour”. It does not say there is no God beside us; it says there is no God beside me. So we see that God and our Saviour are one.

We need to be very cautious of criticizing and judging people. We do not want to put a stumbling block in someone’s way. When people challenge us with questions concerning the Bible, we need to be so anchored on the rock of truth, the Lord Jesus Christ, that we will not stumble or fall off our solid rock. We will stand secure with the assurance that the Bible is indeed true. If we read something about Jesus and find what we think is an error, the first thing we should do is pray and ask God to reveal the truth to us. Then if and only if, God has told us to tell the person about the error, we need to do it in a humble and loving way without being critical or judgmental.

The Bible also says in Genesis 1:26a “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” In John 10: 25 – 30, we read “Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.”

Thank God for our solid rock and the knowledge that when the storms of life come against us that if we have hidden His word in our hearts we will stand secure, fastened and anchored on His Word. Are you anchored on the solid rock? Have you hidden His word in your heart so you will not be swayed when someone says something critical to you about what you believe? I urge you to not only read the written Word, but also to hide the living Word in your heart.
