A REFUGE FROM THE STORMS

“And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.”

Isaiah 4: 6 King James Version

There are times when all of us have storms in our lives. We have storms of criticism, rejection, sarcasm, judgment, illness, death, loneliness, sexual abuse, financial difficulties and marital problems. When these things threaten to overwhelm us and we are about to drown in these storms we have a refuge, an eternal refuge and His name is Jesus! Sometimes families say harsh and hurtful words to each other in the heat of an argument or disagreement. It is then that we need to cry out to our refuge, our precious Saviour. Not only does Jesus save our souls, He saves us from the storms of life.

I was asked to review a manuscript for a book that is going to be published and in the book it talks about hell being a place of torment. I have received several emails in the last two years from people who tell me that they are going through hell on this earth and that nothing could be worse than what they are enduring now. O people, hell is a real place and it doesn’t come close to being anything that anyone has ever had to endure on earth. It is a place of eternal torment and anguish and the worse thing about hell is separation from Jesus for all eternity.

If I didn’t know without a shadow of doubt that I am saved and will spend eternity with Jesus, I would go to bed and never get up again. Without Jesus nothing makes any sense. There is no real happiness without Jesus. There is no peace without Him. The peace that this world offers us doesn’t compare to His peace. His peace is a lasting peace. The world can’t give us His peace and the world can’t take it from us. We will never know real joy, peace, contentment and happiness until we have given our hearts and lives to Jesus and allowed Him to pilot our lives on the course He has laid out for us in His perfect will and in His perfect timing. Is Jesus the pilot of your life? If not, I urge you to give your heart and life to Him. He will be the best friend you have ever known. He will never leave you, not even for one minute. When the storms of life attack you, He will hold your hand and walk with you and bring you through them victoriously. Thank God for Jesus, our refuge from the storms!
