Are You Available?

“Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.”

Isaiah 40: 1 King James Version

God tells us to comfort His people but to do that we have to step out of our comfort zone and get involved. When is the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone and went looking for someone who has a broken heart? There are people all around us who are hurting and desperately need to know that someone really cares.

I received three emails from people who told me that they know that Jesus cares, but that they also needed a hug from someone. Jesus knows that we are human and need each other for encouragement and comfort. We need to put our arms around them and prove that Jesus Loves them. Many times we live far away and are not able to give someone a hug, but we can hug that person through our words.

We need to shut off the television and pick up the phone and call someone that we know is lonely and hurting. We need to forget about the housework and go visit someone. The house will still be there when we get back home. We need to send letters through regular mail, and we also need to send emails.

Some people don’t want to share what is hurting, but there are many people who are waiting for someone to ask them how they are feeling. Jesus has told us to comfort His people. Let’s step out of our comfort zone and become available to minister to our loved ones and to a hurting world.
