I ride Community Transportation and last Saturday they did not come to pick me up for the return trip. I had to call a taxi to pick me up and take me home. It cost me ten dollars to go home in the taxi. One glorious day, our Saviour is going to come back to take us home. We won’t have to pay for that ride. Jesus already paid the price for us when He shed His precious blood for us on the cruel cross of Calvary. It is free to us; but it cost Him everything, His very life.
If you are a parent and have ever been to a game or to a contest in which your child participated, you have probably shouted when your son or daughter won. I believe that when Jesus comes back for us and descends with a shout that our Heavenly Father is also going to give a shout. I believe that if God were wearing suspenders they would burst with pride in His Son. What a victorious and joyous day that will be when Jesus comes back for us!
Are you ready for the final ride? You won’t have time to ask Jesus to forgive you and come into your heart to be your personal Saviour when He returns for us. When the taxi came last Saturday to take me home, anything could have happened to prevent it from coming for me. It could have run out of gas or had car trouble. We don’t know when Jesus is coming back for us, but He is coming back for us and nothing will prevent Him from coming back for us.
Many times we put things off until the next day. One day, there will be no tomorrow. We won’t be able to call our families, our loved ones and our friends and tell them how much they mean to us and how much we love them. There won’t be any more time to tell a lost and hurting world that Jesus died so that they can have their sins forgiven and live with Him for eternity. The most tragic thing is that one day we won’t have time to thank Jesus for all He has done for us.
We are an ungrateful people at times. Jesus does so much for us every day but many times we neglect to thank Him. We teach our children to say please and thank you but we don’t say please and thank you to our Heavenly Father and to Jesus. My Mother used to tell me when I was a child “Don’t do what I do; do as I say.” That is not what the Bible teaches us. We are to set the example for our children. They should hear us saying please and thank you when we are praying. May God forgive us for not setting the example for our children!
Have you admitted that you are a sinner and asked Jesus to forgive you and come into your heart to be your personal Saviour? You may not have another tomorrow or even another hour to live because we don’t know when Jesus will come back for us or when God will call us home. Please don’t put off saying yes to Jesus. This is the most important decision you will ever make in your life. Nobody can make the decision for you as much as they want to do so. Your family loves you and wants to meet you in Heaven. Salvation is a personal issue between you and Jesus. Every person must humble himself or herself and ask Jesus to come into his or her heart. Again I ask you, have you said yes to Jesus?
