A SHELTER FROM THE PAIN

“Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.”

Psalm 61: 1 - 3 King James Version

This morning I watched a family movie on television. I saw a man hug his wife and pull her as close to him as he could trying to protect her from the pain of their daughter losing her baby. The man had tears in his eyes and you could see the heartache and sorrow on his face. Yet, even in the midst of his heartache and sorrow, he was concerned for his wife and wanted to shield her and protect her from the pain.

O’ dear friends, Jesus feels our pain when we are hurting. He waits with His arms of compassion and love open wide for us to run into them. He knows first hand how it feels to hurt. He suffered a pain and agony that none of us will ever suffer. His arms were stretched on an old rugged cross for us. They pounded nails into His precious hands. They spat on Him, cursed Him, mocked Him and treated Him worse than any person has ever been treated.

While hanging on that cross of torture for us, He reached out to us and said “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) Even in the midst of His pain, His Heart was filled with Love for us. He was trying to protect us from the pain of suffering even while He was being crucified. What an amazing Love from the Heart of our dear Saviour!

If you’re hurting today, run into His arms and let Him protect you from the pain and heartache. You can depend on Jesus. He will never let you down. He Loves you with an unconditional Love.
