A SPECIAL JOY

“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

Jeremiah 31:3 King James Version

When someone tells us that they love us it brings joy to our hearts but when Jesus tells us that He loves us, it fills our hearts to overflowing with excitement, happiness and joy. He never stops loving us no matter how much we hurt Him. He doesn’t get so angry that He divorces us. When we unite with Him in marriage, it is for all eternity and all hell can’t sever the relationship. He loves us unconditionally and we should love others with the same unconditional love that He gives to us.

I don’t know about you but when people hurt me and say harsh and criticizing words to me, my first reaction is “They don’t love me anymore”. Not only do I doubt their love for me, it makes me very uncomfortable sharing what is in my heart with them again. When Jesus has to correct me and take me to the woodshed as He has to do sometimes, I never doubt His love for me because He is faithful, honest and trustworthy. I know that He loves me and wants me to be happy.

Once Jesus has planted His special love, joy, excitement and happiness in our hearts we not only have the responsibility to tell others about His love, we have the privilege of telling others about our wonderful Saviour. Telling others about Jesus should come automatically to us if we really love Him. It is like everything else that we do in life; if we only do it because it is expected then it is in vain and stinks in the nostrils of Jesus. Everything we do and say should come from our heart. Do you have this special joy in your heart? If so, are you sharing it with your loved ones and the world?
