A TOUCH OF LOVE

“And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.”

Matthew 14: 35, 36 King James Version

I watched a Christmas program about a family. The dad had given up and wanted to die because he was overweight. His daughter was ashamed of him and had told everyone that her dad was dead. His daughter went to his bedside and told him that she was sorry and that she wanted him to get well. However, nothing she said made any difference to him until she touched him. He put his arms around her and told her not to cry. It took a touch of love from his daughter to bring him out of his depression.

One day, God looked down and saw that we were in need of a Saviour and He opened His heart and sent His only beloved Son to be born in a manger for us. Jesus grew up and gave His life for us on a cross of horror and torture. He is waiting for us with His arms open wide to come to Him. He is reaching down His hand to us but until we put our hand in His nail scarred hand we will never be healed.

There is no greater love than the love of Jesus. The greatest gift you can give your family, loved ones and friends is a heart filled with unconditional love. We can buy all the presents in the world and have the table filled with so much food it is impossible to eat it but if our hearts are cold and indifferent, all of that is meaningless.

Have you placed your hand in the nail scarred hand of Jesus? Have allowed Him to take away all the bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, criticism and sarcasm from your heart? If not, there is no better time than right this minute. Give your heart and life to Jesus before it is too late. He will take your cold and hardened heart and soften it into a heart filled with love and compassion for others.
