Be Content

"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content."

1 Timothy 6: 6 - 8 King James Version

It's nice to have big homes, big cars, swimming pools and fur coats but we can't take them with us when we die. There is nothing wrong with having all these nice things unless we work so hard to get them that we forget about Jesus and don't take time for Him.

Many times we go into debt getting these things and then it takes years for us to get out of debt. Often, people who have all these beautiful things are unhappy. It doesn't matter how big or how small your home is unless Jesus lives in your home. Without Jesus, there is no real happiness. These things can be destroyed in a fire, but the Love of Jesus in our hearts will be with us forever.

Sometimes we don't really want all these expensive things; we just want to keep up with our friends. We act like we're happy and everything is wonderful in our lives because we have achieved what we desired. Yet, our hearts are sad and broken just like the ones who don't have these bigger and more expensive things.

Jesus wants us to be happy and He desires to give us nice things because He Loves us. However, if all we have is a small home or a trailer we need to be content and thank Him for what He has given to us. We need to thank Him for our clothes and for our food. We need to thank Him daily for all we have.
