Many of us have loved ones and friends that have cancer. As tragic as this is, if they are saved they will go to Heaven. There is another kind of cancer and it comes from the heart. The heart has tumors of all these terrible things the verse describes in the Bible. There is a tumor of murders. We may say that we have never killed anybody or want to kill them, yet in our hearts we kill them with our words. We kill their self-confidence with our sarcasm and criticism.
The heart has a tumor of adultery. It doesn’t matter if we have committed adultery with another person, if we put somebody or something ahead of Jesus; we are committing adultery by leaving Jesus, our first love. We may not say things out loud, but in our hearts we think evil thoughts toward people and wish that bad things would happen to them.
If we don’t make a heart commitment to Jesus, ask Him to forgive us and change our hearts, we will never see Heaven and will be lost for Eternity. That is far worse than dying of physical cancer. This is a spiritual cancer and the only treatment for it is the atoning blood of Jesus applied to our hearts.
What is in your heart today? Are your thoughts, words, and actions pleasing to Jesus? Are you killing someone with your criticism and sarcastic remarks, or are you hugging people to Jesus with your words and actions?
