DON’T GIVE UP

“Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.”

John 4: 6, 7 King James Version

Yesterday, I had a very difficult and discouraging day because satan told me lies all day. I was tempted to give up. I turned on the radio to my favorite Christian station thinking the music would soothe and encourage me. Instead of music, I heard this lady speaking and one of the first things she said was “I was so weary that I wanted to stay home and not come today”. She said “How many of you are weary”? Only ten people raised their hands. She started laughing and said “Only ten of us, the rest of you are lying”.

The Bible tells us that Jesus was wearied with His journey and thirsty. He asked the woman for a drink of water. We weren’t there that day to give Him a drink, but we can give Him a drink now through our service to Him and our love to others. I’m sure that He grew weary of doing good at times because He was human. He grew discouraged and was tempted to give up just like we are.

All of us have heartaches and difficult situations we are going through, but none of us have experienced the loneliness, heartache, and abuse that Jesus suffered. He was criticized, rejected, scorned, and cursed. We will never fully be able to comprehend the pain and agony in our Saviour’s heart. He was trying to give His Love to people and they rejected Him. How that must have broke His heart! Today, we still break His heart by the way we treat Him. Don’t give up! Keep serving Jesus. It will be worth it all when we see the joy on His face!
