DO YOU REALLY KNOW HIM

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

Jeremiah 29: 11 – 13 King James Version

Do you really know Jesus? You may be saved, but do you really know Him? Do you know that He is the greatest writer of all time because He gave us our road map to life, to salvation, to Heaven and to our wonderful and loving Heavenly Father by His examples, His commandments and His instructions in the Bible? How many hours a day do we read our Bibles? More important, how much time do we spend with Jesus, the Living Word?

Do you know that He is the greatest singer? I think when He sings that the angels listen with awe and amazement. I believe that He is so filled with joy when a sinner invites Him into his or her heart that He can’t keep the joy to Himself. That joy has to be expressed and He sings because He is so happy. I believe that He sings and rejoices with the angels when a sinner comes to Him.

Did you know that He is the greatest inventor? The Bible says that all things were made by Him (John 1: 3). We worry so much about copyrights and patents but the truth is that everything belongs to Him. I’ve read in the paper many times about people inventing something and taking out a patent on it. Jesus is the one who invented it; the person who made it is simply a tool for Jesus. It’s time that we give Jesus the credit for everything because He not only makes everything, He is our everything!

He is also the greatest fisherman because He fishes for our souls. Are we fishing for souls to bring to Jesus by our love for one another? How many times a day to we cast the line for souls? Some people that go fishing get up early in the morning and spend all day fishing. I wonder how many of us get up early in the morning and spend all day fishing for people who are hurting and without Jesus?

Have many nights have we stayed up with Jesus weeping because His heart is sad because of all the people who keep rejecting Him? There is no doubt in my mind at all that our precious Saviour cries when we are hurting. He is a tender, loving and compassionate Saviour!

O that you and I would allow Him to fill our hearts with so much compassion that we would have no trouble loving others unconditionally as He has commanded us to love them. Where we get in trouble is that many times we forget that we don’t have the option to love one another, it is a commandment!

How well do you know Jesus? Can you see into His heart? If not, then you haven’t spent enough time with Him. We can’t see into people’s hearts because all of us have some kind of defense mechanism in place to keep people from seeing into our hearts. We don’t want to get hurt any more so we put on a happy face and smile but inside we are in pain. Our precious Saviour has opened His beautiful heart to us. He hasn’t hid anything from us. All we have to do is spend time with Him and love Him. How much time have you spent with Jesus today?
