ETERNAL OR TEMPORARY

“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

1 John 5: 11 – 13 King James Version

We need to ask ourselves if what we are doing is temporary or if it will last for Eternity. We have to keep our homes clean, but we can stop for a while during the day and pick up the telephone and call someone that we know is hurting and lonely. We can write a letter or send an email to someone. Our homes will still be here tomorrow, but that person may die today and tomorrow will be too late for them.

When we rake a neighbor’s yard or bake a cake to take to someone, these are things that will last for Eternity. The love that we show to others will draw them closer to Jesus. If they are not saved, if they haven’t made a heart commitment to Him, the little acts of love that we show them may result in them trusting Jesus as their personal Saviour.

When is the last time you told someone that Jesus Loves him or her? When is the last time you hugged someone for Jesus? Are the things you are doing temporary or will they last for Eternity? Does the Heart of Jesus rejoice over the things you are doing, or do they break His Heart?

Tell someone today that Jesus Loves him or her. Give that person a hug for Jesus and reassure him or her that Jesus understands and cares for them. Where will you spend Eternity, with Jesus or with satan?
