This verse does not give us options. If God has called us to do something, we need to be faithful to that calling. So many times we think this verse only applies to tithing. It also applies to our time, talents and abilities.
If God has given us the ability to sing, write, preach, or teach and we do not do it, then we are not pleasing Him. If we have the ability to construct something or fix something and we don’t do it, then we are failing Him. All of us have twenty four hours each day that He gives us. We should be giving at least a portion of each day to Him. If He has called us into full time service, then we need to dedicate most of the day to Him.
Jesus was faithful to His calling to die for our sins. He set the example for us to follow. He never quit. He walked up that lonely hill to Calvary in Love and Obedience to His Father, and out of Love for us.
How many hours a day do we spend serving Jesus? How many hours a day do we spend watching television? If we are spending more time watching television than we are serving Jesus, we are not being faithful to what He has called us to do.
