FEELINGS

“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.”

Isaiah 53: 7 King James Version

There are times when our feelings are hurt by something unkind and cruel that has been said about us. I used to have a terrible temper and it didn’t take much to make me angry. When someone said something mean about me or to me, I immediately told them off with very harsh and critical remarks. One day, I fell in love with Jesus and asked Him to please take my terrible temper away and help me control my big mouth.

I thought that I was justified in saying hateful things in return. I was very wrong. The only person who was ever justified in saying something back when being attacked was Jesus. He had never done anything wrong; had never sinned one day of His life, yet He was never cruel to people. He told them the truth with love in His Heart for them. Yes, He got angry, but He never sinned.

The next time that we are tempted to say something cruel and unkind to people, we need to immediately go to Jesus and ask Him to help us keep our big mouths shut. It does not solve anything when we respond with unkindness; it makes the situation worse. We can’t do this in our own strength. We need Jesus to help us. The more that I love Jesus, the easier it is to be quiet.

You will be unable to respond with love and kindness unless Jesus lives in your heart. Have you invited the Christ of Calvary into your heart? You will never know real love, peace, joy and happiness until you have a personal relationship with Jesus.
