FROM COLD TO WARM

“And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.”

John 18: 18 King James Version

I haven’t been feeling well the last two days. I think I have the flu. This afternoon I was so cold that I put my thermostat on eighty five degrees. I was still cold so I got my afghan and covered up until I got warm. There are times when our hearts feel cold with despair and depression because we have been hurt and only Jesus can warm our hearts again.

When we are hurting, we need our loved ones and friends to put their arms around us and hug us for Jesus. We may not be there in person to hug but we can hug through a phone call, an email, or a letter. Many churches have a time of greeting where they shake hands and hug one another.

Sometimes a hug from our loved ones and friends isn’t enough. It is then that we need to go to Jesus and allow Him to hold us close until we are warm. His Love is so warm and soothing. He gently kisses away the tears of disappointment and heartache.

If you are hurting and nothing that your loved ones and friends say or do helps you, take it to Jesus. He will be faithful to listen and understand. He will take your hand and walk with you through the heartaches and sorrows. He is a Loving Saviour and Friend. He will never leave you, not even for a minute. You may feel that nobody understands your situation. You can trust Jesus to understand and have compassion.
