GOD’S FAN

“Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff. Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.”

Isaiah 41: 15, 16 King James Version

Many times we have mountains in our lives, mountains of criticism, sarcasm, unforgiveness and hatred. God’s fan has different settings just like the fans that we plug in the walls. It has low, medium and high and depending on the situation, we can adjust it.

If we have tried to forgive someone, but keep clinging to the hurt, we can ask Jesus to help us forgive that person. We need to remember that we also hurt people and just as we want to be forgiven, we should forgive those who hurt us. There are times when people will criticize us and we need Jesus to pour His compassion on the scars.

Sometimes we have arguments with our spouses which turn into a heated battle. It is then that we need to ask Jesus to cool us down so that we won’t do or say anything that will make Him sad. It hurts Jesus when we say and do unkind things to each other. We need to start praying with our spouses.

Jesus provides us with His fan of love, mercy, protection and compassion. May God forgive us if we have done or said something to someone that caused that person to turn on God’s protective fan! Are you saying and doing things that make Jesus happy or are you making critical and sarcastic remarks that make Him sad?
