I am in the process of updating my mailing list and the response has been wonderful. There have been a few who said they were too busy to read the writings. I also have had to ask people to remove me from their mailing lists due to being so overwhelmed with email at times that I can’t keep up with them. However, there is one mailing list that we should never leave and that is God’s mailing list. I think sometimes that we allow ourselves to get so busy that we neglect to read His daily love letter to us.
If we will take the time every day and open the Bible, we will find a new message of love, hope and encouragement from Jesus. I have been listening over and over to a tape of a pastor preaching the same sermon and every time I hear it, I get something new from the sermon. It is the same way with God’s Word. Every time we read it, if we will pray and ask the Holy Spirit to teach us, we will get something new from it. An old Methodist preacher once said “I heard the gospel, I heard the gospel, I heard the gospel, and then praise God, one day I heard the gospel”.
Are you on God’s mailing list? If so, are you reading His love letter to you every day? When is the last time you wrote Him a love letter from your heart? Have you told Him thank You for all He has done for you? When you woke up this morning, did you thank Him for another day to serve Him and did you tell Him how much you appreciate His love for you? Has God opened His mailbox today with eagerness and joyful anticipation of receiving a love letter from you and it wasn’t there? Did you break His heart today?
