When that mother told her son to do his school homework before he read the Bible, she was saying that his school homework was more important that studying the Bible. The Bible says that we are to study His Word so that we will be able to learn and tell others of Jesus.
We take many tests during our lifetime. We take tests at school and on the job. One day, God is going to look at the Report Card that He is keeping on our life. I want to have the best grades I can get so that I will make Him happy.
We won’t have a chance to study harder and make better grades. The Report Card that He is keeping is how we live our lives. He is documenting all the times we have hurt people, said cruel things to one another, and our actions toward others.
He is also recording all the good things we do for Him. Every time that we give someone a hug, tell people that Jesus Loves them, and do things to make Him happy, He writes that down also.
What does your Report Card look like when Jesus looks at it? Is it filled with good things that make Him happy, or is it filled with things that bring shame to Him?
