GOD’S UMBRELLA

"For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall."

Isaiah 25: 4 King James Version

When I was at Wal-Mart this morning, I saw something that made me very angry and sad. There was a woman that had two children in the grocery cart and they were about to go out in the rain. It was raining hard at that moment. The woman had a raincoat and the hood was over her head, but the children did not have anything on to protect them from the rain.

I thought, surely she won’t go out in the rain without putting something on her children to protect them. However, she went out without any concern for her children at all. I got so angry that I think if I had been physically able to get to her in time; I would have hit her. Then, my heart broke as I realized that she doesn’t love her children or she would have taken the coat off and put it around the two small children in the grocery cart.

As I was telling Jesus about how I was feeling, He burned it into my heart that we treat Him the same way. We do the things that we want to do and completely ignore what He asks us to do. He said, "I ask you to love one another and treat each other as you would like to be treated, but you don’t do it".

I had to ask Him for forgiveness because I fail Him every day of my life. How about you, are you treating others the way He has asked us to do? When we are not kind to others and love them, then we are not showing Jesus that we love Him.
