Have you ever noticed that when an apple falls off the tree that eventually it rots? The same is true with us if we stray from Jesus. We must stay on the Tree of Jesus. We must allow Him to prune us daily to keep bitterness, envy, malice and hatred from our hearts.
The verse says “longsuffering”, and yet many times we allow our tempers to flare at the slightest thing. Jesus puts us with our failures so we certainly should be willing to put up with someone when they fail. None of us are perfect. Every one of us has shortcomings and failures daily.
If we would stop looking at other people and trying to change them and concentrate on keeping our own hearts in tune with the Heart of Jesus, we wouldn’t have time to be so critical and judgmental. We need to be certain that we are producing good fruit and not bad fruit.
What kind of fruit do others see when they look at you? Do they see the fruit of the Spirit, or do they see the fruit of satan and the world? Are you giving good fruit to your family, loved ones and friends?
