GUARD YOUR TONGUE

“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.”

Isaiah 53: 7 King James Version

When someone attacks us verbally and says cruel, hateful, criticizing, and judgmental words, our first response is to lash out at them and hurt them in return. This verse says that Jesus didn’t open His mouth. Where would you and I be if He were to say criticizing and hateful things to us when we fail Him?

If we claim to be a Christian, then our words should glorify Jesus and draw others to our Blessed Saviour. I had a terrible temper before I was saved, and Jesus is still working on me concerning this issue. Thank God, I don’t respond like I used to do, but sometimes I do lose my temper. When I lose my temper, instead of pointing others to Jesus, I am pointing them to satan.

Many of us have suffered devastating pain in our heart by the cruel words that have been said to us, yet nobody has ever or ever will suffer like Jesus did. If He could keep quiet, when He had never done anything wrong in His life, how much more should you and I keep our big mouths shut.

Instead of saying hateful words in return to people, we need to take them to Jesus. Only Jesus can change a person’s heart. I am convinced that a lot of people lash out at others because they don’t feel loved. We need to love them with the Love of Jesus, with Unconditional Love.

Is your heart right with Jesus today? Have you made Him Saviour and Master of your life? If not, please don’t put it off as you may not have even another hour to live.
