HEALTHY WORDS

“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.”

Proverbs 16: 24 King James Version

I was still in a lot of pain last night and then a special friend who is very dear to my heart called me last night and after we finished talking I could hardly feel the pain. I slept better last night than I have in three days. Maybe we need to tell our spouse, family, and loved ones more often how much we love them.

This verse says that pleasant words are health to the bones. Perhaps that is why all through the Bible we read how much Jesus Loves us. I don’t think that anyone told Jesus that He was loved while He was here on earth except his mother. Jesus understands how we get lonely and need reassurance that someone really does love and care for us.

I’ve noticed that Jesus has inspired me to write a lot about words and I think it is because it is so important to say kind words to each other. Physical abuse is terrible and it hurts a lot, but verbal abuse goes straight to the heart and the scars are there for a lifetime. Jesus heals our hearts from verbal abuse, but the scars are still there.

While it is vital that we tell others we love them, we should never say I love you to someone unless we mean it. These three words are very special and should not be used as a common phrase. They should come from our hearts.

Jesus tells us every day how much He Loves us. Have you told your loved ones that you love them lately? More important, have you told Jesus that you love Him?
