HE IS FAITHFUL

“The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.”

Deuteronomy 7: 7 – 9 King James Version

I think there might have been times in our lives when all of us have been unfaithful in some way, whether it was breaking a promise to someone, being unfaithful to our spouse or worse of all being unfaithful to Jesus. If we have ever told Jesus that we were going to do something and then failed to do it, we have been unfaithful to Him and have broken His heart.

If there is anyone that we can depend on for honesty and faithfulness, it is Jesus. What He says, He will do. He has told us that He will never leave us so He won’t leave us, not even for a minute. Many times we leave Him but He remains faithful to us. He is faithful to hold our hand and walk beside us through the agony and heartaches in our lives. He is there to support us when we are sitting beside a family member who is sick. He feels the pain that we feel when someone accuses us falsely or criticizes and condemns us.

He has asked us to love Him and keep His commandments. Yet, often we put Him on a shelf and only take Him down when we need something. We get so busy doing things for Jesus that many times we don’t take time for Him. If you have ever run out of gas while driving, then you know that the car will not go another mile. It is the same with serving Him. Unless He is supplying the power and gas, our service to Him is meaningless and in vain. We can preach and sing until we are hoarse; we can write until our fingers grow numb but unless we are doing it with a heart filled with love for Jesus and for others, it means nothing to Him and stinks in His nostrils.

We depend so much on our feelings. It is time that we stop depending on them and start depending on Jesus. It doesn’t matter how impossible the situation seems to us, nothing is impossible to Him. If you are facing a difficult situation today, put your trust in Jesus. He will make a way for you out of the darkness of despair into the light of joy.
