HOW COULD HE

“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter, and we all are the work of thy hand.”

Genesis 3: 19 Isaiah 64:8 King James Version

I received an email and the person said “How could He do this to me?” There was not one word of gratitude for what God had already provided. The email was full of criticism. How that must have pierced the heart of our Heavenly Father like a sharp knife!

I think all too often we forget that we are but clay in the hands of the Potter. Jesus said “for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return”. We become so full of pride and self-importance we forget or choose to ignore the fact that except for the Love of Jesus and His sacrificial death on the cruel cross all of us would be lost in our sins without Jesus for all eternity.

None of us has any right to condemn and accuse God of anything. When Jesus paid the price for our sins with His atoning blood, we lost all rights to claim anything for ourselves. Everything that we have belongs to Jesus. It is only through His precious blood that we are justified and have become children of God. Because of His amazing unconditional Love for us, we will spend eternity with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

I think God looks down on us and says “How can they keep hurting My Son? How can they ignore and neglect Him after all He has done for them?” May God forgive us for hurting Jesus. Why do we say and do things that hurt Him? Why do we go to places that we know brings shame to Him? Do we love Him?
