HUNGRY AGAIN

“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”

John 6: 32 – 35 King James Version

I remember one time when my Mother told me to do the dishes that I said to her “Why do I have to do the dishes, they just get dirty again”? She said “Why do you have to eat, you just get hungry again”? Also, I have made this comment and I have heard many other people say this “I am so full I will never eat again”. Yet we do eat again because we get hungry again. When we accept Jesus into our hearts as our personal Saviour, we never hunger again because He satisfies every longing and every need that we have.

Many people try drugs, alcohol and other things in the world to find some sort of release from their heartaches and bad memories. It has never worked and it will never work. Only Jesus can satisfy a hungry and thirsty heart. He is the only one who can take the agony, terror and desperation from us. He loves us so much that He willingly allowed Himself to be crucified. There is no greater love than this!

A lot of the times it is our fault that we have confusion and heartaches in our lives. Sometimes we do things that we know we should not do. He has told us to be angry and sin not and that we shouldn’t let the sun go down on our wrath (Ephesians 4:26). Yet there are times when we have arguments with someone and we don’t ask the person to forgive us or we don’t forgive the one that hurt us and we go to bed angry and then we wonder why we wake up in a bad mood and feel discouraged. It is only by allowing Jesus to soften our hearts that we will be able to forgive people who have hurt us. We are powerless to forgive them in our own strength. I know because I tried it for years and it doesn’t work. We must have the unconditional love and compassion for people that Jesus deposits in our hearts.

If today you are hungry for joy, peace, happiness, love and for someone who really cares, open your heart to Jesus. He is knocking on your heart’s door but He won’t come in uninvited. He will fill you with so much love, joy, peace and happiness that you will never hunger or thirst again. Does Jesus live in your heart? Do you know without a shadow of doubt that if He should come back today that you are ready to meet Him? If not, then I urge you, I plead with you to say “yes” to Jesus and invite Him into your heart to be your personal Saviour.
