Some people think that to be saved they have to obey the commandments. That statement is calling Jesus a Liar. He said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” This is how we prove our love for Him.
When people adopt a child into their family, that boy or girl is a member of their family no matter what he or she does. If the child loves their parents, they will do what the parents tell them to do. There were times when my Mother said to me, “I wash my hands of you”. She may have meant it, but she couldn’t do it because I was born into her family and I was still her daughter no matter how upset she was with me or how I behaved.
When we invite the Christ of Calvary into our hearts, we are saved and there is nothing that we can do to lose our salvation. If that were the case, then Jesus would have to die for us every day. When we don’t obey Him and keep His commandments, then we don’t love Him. If we have made a real heart commitment to Jesus, then we will love Him and obey His commandments willingly and gladly.
If we are not obeying Jesus, then we need to ask ourselves if we have ever invited Him into our hearts, or did we just make a verbal and head commitment to Him. Have you opened your heart and life to Jesus, or have you just acknowledged Him with your mouth?
