When God created the heaven and the earth it was very good. However something happened to the earth. Because of disobedience to God, sin entered into the world and it was not very good any longer. I’m sure it broke the heart of God when Adam and Eve disobeyed Him. He had made a beautiful and peaceful place for them to live but it was no longer the beautiful and peaceful place He had created after they disobeyed Him.
For six days He created a place of love and peace for us but our world is no longer peaceful and full of love. Rather, it is full of hatred which is evidenced in wars. We no longer show respect to God by the way we live our lives and the things that we say. How sad it is to hear people take the name of God and turn it into profanity. God who blesses people is portrayed as a God who dams people. I believe when we use God’s name in a negative and cursing way that it stinks in His nostrils and we will stand before Him one day and give an account of what we have said about Him.
In Matthew 10:8 we read “Freely ye have received, freely give”. This is not a suggestion; we are to do this. If we have been given the talent to write, sing, play an instrument, or anything else that God has so freely given to us, I believe that we should freely give these talents back to Him. How often we disobey God in this area of our lives. Nothing we have belongs to us; it all belongs to God. O that we would use our talents so that others may freely read and hear about the unconditional love of Jesus for us!
Someone sent me an email a couple of months ago and in the email he said “I am a veteran and unable to work due to an injury I got while serving our country and I don’t have much money. There are many inspirational books and Christian Videos that I would like to buy but because of the small amount of money that I receive with my pension, I just can’t buy them”. I think that there are probably a lot of people who would like to buy these products but because of their circumstances they are unable to do so.
Yes, in the beginning the world was peaceful and full of love but because of disobedience it is no longer that way. The longer I serve Jesus, the more I desire to obey Him. I am not always successful because I fail Him many times. Sometimes I lose my temper and say things that I really don’t mean. However, He is faithful to forgive me because He knows my heart and He knows that I really don’t mean to be disobedient to Him. How is your heart today? Is it in right standing with Him? Are you being obedient or disobedient to Him?
