IS YOUR SUITCASE PACKED?

“But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”

1 Thessalonians 5: 1, 2 King James Version

My sister and brother-in-law came to visit me yesterday. I usually keep my home looking nice and ready for company. However, I wanted to do some extra cleaning to make it really nice for my family. I had a wonderful time visiting with my family. We went out to eat at a Chinese restaurant. My favorite food is Chinese. I was so happy to see my sister and brother-in-law.

One day my precious Saviour is coming back for me with a shout of victory. My suitcase is packed and I’m ready to go because the cleansing atoning blood of my Saviour has been applied to my heart for the forgiveness of my sins. There is only one way to Heaven and that is through the precious atoning blood of Jesus which He shed for us on that cruel cross of Calvary.

We won’t have time to ask Him to forgive us for the things in our hearts that are displeasing to Him when He comes back for us. We also won’t have time to ask people that we have hurt to forgive us. It will be too late to do anything. We don’t know when He is coming back, but He is coming back. When Jesus comes back it won’t be just for a visit. Praise God! He is going to take me home with Him.

I have to admit that I found myself cleaning house and thinking about how the house looked almost every hour yesterday. Yet, I am ashamed to say that I didn’t make sure that my heart was clean with Jesus every hour yesterday. How that must have hurt our precious Saviour. I think if you are honest with yourselves, you will have to admit that you also don’t do an hourly checkup to make certain that your heart is right with Jesus. May God forgive us for concentrating more on material things than we on Him. Do you have your suitcase packed?

Is your heart right with God? Have you invited the Christ of Calvary into your heart to be your personal Saviour? If not, please don’t put it off because Jesus may come back even while you are reading this devotion. If you have never asked Him to forgive you and come into your heart to be your personal Saviour, your suitcase is not packed and you will be left behind. You will spend eternity in hell with satan rather than spending eternity in Heaven with Jesus.
