IT BREAKS HIS HEART

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

Matthew 23: 37 King James Version

I believe as Jesus said this that not only did He have tears in His eyes; He had tears in His heart also. Jesus protects us from our enemies but it hurts Him when He has to punish people. Jesus loves everyone, even our enemies. He loves us and we may be an enemy to someone else and don’t even know it. I believe when God kicked satan out of Heaven that it broke His heart. Our loving Heavenly Father and our precious Saviour’s hearts are full of compassion and unconditional love for us.

Why do we keep hurting Jesus and breaking His heart by saying unkind things and doing things to hurt one another? Hasn’t Jesus suffered enough? Why must we continually hurt Him by our actions and words? It is time that we determine in our hearts to make Him happy. If ever anyone deserves to be happy, it is our precious Saviour. He has done so much for us and He asks so little of us.

For many people, He has been knocking at the heart’s door for years and they haven’t opened the door to Him. Oh, they might have opened the door for Him to save them and be their personal Saviour but they have refused to open the door when He called them to do something for Him. He has called some of us into full time service but we have ignored Him.

There may have been a time when we surrendered our lives to Him in full time service, but we only serve Him when it fits into our schedules and is convenient for us. When we say yes to Jesus and commit our lives to full time service that means we are on call twenty four hours a day. He may want us to get up in the middle of the night and pray for someone or go visit someone who is hurting and desperately needs to know that someone cares if he or she lives or dies. If He has called us to write, He may sometimes wake us up in the middle of the night and inspire us to write.

Are we willing to get up immediately when He tells us to do something or do we ignore Him and tell Him that we’ll do it in the morning? If we do this, we are being disobedient to Him. I am embarrassed and ashamed to admit this but there have been several times when He woke me up in the middle of the night and inspired me to write something.

However, I allowed my flesh to take over and I went back to sleep. When I got up the next day, I couldn’t remember what He told me to write. I have asked Him to forgive me and now when He wakes me up; I get up immediately, go to my computer and start typing the devotion for the next day.

If you have surrendered your life to Jesus for full time service, are you serving Him twenty four hours a day or only when it fits into your schedule and is convenient for you? If you have allowed satan to hinder your service to Jesus, ask Jesus to forgive you and help you to serve Him full time as you promised Him that you would. Let’s stop breaking the heart of our precious Saviour!
