IT’S HIS TURN

“Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

Psalm 55: 17, 22 King James Version

A mother once told me that every time her children came to her that they wanted her to buy them something or take them someplace. She said that she couldn’t ever remember any of her six children coming to her just to tell her that they love her. I believe that our Heavenly Father feels the same way this mother feels. I think all of us, if we are honest with ourselves; have been guilty of this very thing.

We go to Him when we are hurting or are in the middle of a crisis and cry out to Him to help us. We ask Him to save our loved ones and to rescue our children who have strayed away from us and from Him. There should always be a time, either morning, noon or evening that it’s His turn to talk to us and tell us how He is feeling. We need to go to Him and tell Him that we love Him but then if we really love Him and want to give Him the time that He so richly deserves, we will be quiet and not say anything else.

We should allow Him to talk to us and tell us what is in His heart without interrupting Him. We tend to forget and perhaps have never realized that He too has feelings and He wants us to love Him and listen to Him. Someone once told me that God doesn’t have feelings. If God didn’t have feelings, He wouldn’t love us and He certainly would not have sent His beloved Son into the world to be tortured and abused and to die for us.

May God forgive us for taking advantage of a Holy God! Let’s purpose in our hearts to set aside a time every day to give our Heavenly Father the respect and the time that He deserves. If we really love Him, we should give Him more time to talk to us than we spend talking to Him. I don’t believe that we have a right to ask Him for anything if we are not willing to let Him talk to us and tell us what He wants us to do. Also, when He tells us to do something if we refuse to do it or put it off until it is convenient for us then we are disobeying Him and hurting Him. In reality, what we are saying when we don’t do what He asks us to do immediately is that we are more important than He is. I’m sure when we don’t obey Him immediately that it hurts Him.

Have you set aside a time every day to allow our loving and precious Heavenly Father to talk to you? It needs to be a time where you don’t say anything except to tell Him that you love Him. Will He have His turn to talk to you today or are you too busy to listen to Him? If you are too busy to listen to Him, then you are too busy. Set aside a time every day and allow our Heavenly Father to talk to you.
