JESUS DIDN’T FEEL GOOD

“And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Matthew 26: 40, 41 King James Version

I’m not feeling good today and all I want to do is go to bed. My ears hurt, my throat hurts, my head hurts and I ache all over. I started to go to bed and then I remembered these verses. Jesus tells us to watch and pray because our spirit is willing but our flesh is weak.

Jesus was human and He got weary, lonely and sick just like we do. He didn’t want to be tortured and abused on the cross and He asked His Father if it was possible to take the cup away. However, because of His great Love for His Father and for us, He endured the pain and agony of the cross.

He hurt a lot more than I do right now. I have a headache, but His precious head had a crown of thorns on it. One thorn would be painful enough, but there were thorns on the entire crown. I’m sure His throat hurt many times from trying to convince them that He Loved them. His ears were probably hurting from all the false accusations they were saying about Him and from all the cursing they were doing.

No, Jesus the Saviour of the world didn’t feel good the day that He was crucified, but He died for us anyway. He had been beaten beyond recognition and had endured pain and torture that we will never be able to fully comprehend. What is so heart breaking about His death is that today He is still being crucified by our hateful words and abusive actions to one another. It is time that we stop abusing and torturing the Saviour of the world.
