JESUS IS OUR JOY

“Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Psalm 16 King James Version

Indeed, Jesus is our joy. No matter what heartaches and problems we are enduring, if we will stay in the presence of Jesus we will have the fulness of His joy. I am very sick today with a fever, extreme dizziness and nausea so I am unable to send a long devotional as my heart desires to do so. However, I did want to send something as I know how important it is to be reminded of the amazing and unconditional love of Jesus for us. I chose this Psalm as it is my favorite Psalm.

Whatever crises, burdens and heartaches you have, rest assured that Jesus loves you and longs to take them from you and give you peace, His peace, the peace that passes all understanding. We sing the song “Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there”. We usually don’t have any problems taking our burdens to Him, but many times instead of leaving them there, we immediately pick them back up and try to solve them ourselves. It doesn’t work and will never work because without Jesus we are powerless. It is His power working in our lives that brings us through the trials and testings of this life victoriously. How comforting and reassuring it is to know that the Saviour of the world loves us so much that He takes us by the hand daily and walks with us. He stays by our side all the time. It doesn’t matter if we are on the mountain top or in the deepest valley, He will never leave us, not even for one minute. Thank God that He loves us so much that He opened His heart and gave us the most precious gift ever given, the gift of His own beloved Son!
