JUMP IN THE WELL

“Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

John 4: 10 – 14 King James Version

There are times in our lives when we don’t feel well, be it physically, emotionally or spiritually. It is then that we need to jump in the well of healing water and let our great Physician strengthen and heal us. Sometimes we are too weak to jump in the well; it is then that we need to ask someone to push us in the well of His healing power. Thank God that one day out of His amazing unconditional love for us our blessed Saviour hung on a cruel cross of torture and took on Him the penalty for our sins so that we have this healing well of water available for our salvation. It is free to us but it cost Him everything; His very life! There is no love like the love of our Saviour for us.

We need to push our children into the healing water of salvation. How do we push them into the healing love of Jesus? We push them in, not by lecturing them or nagging them, but by our prayers, our kindness to them and by loving and encouraging them. We can’t make the decision for them as salvation is a personal issue but we can pray for them. Every person has to make that decision personally. Every person must humble himself or herself, admit that he or she is a sinner and ask Jesus to forgive him or her and come into his or her heart and be his or her personal Savior. If our children see us with smiles on our faces most of the time and hear us say kind and encouraging words, they will see the difference that Jesus makes in a heart and life that is committed to Him and they will desire a relationship with Him themselves. They will see the joy and happiness that only Jesus can give to us. We should live our lives so that our children will know that not only are we saved, but that we love Jesus with all of our heart.

When the world and satan attacks us with their poisonous barbs of harsh, critical and sarcastic words we can jump into this well of living water and allow Jesus to take our anger and hurt away. He will be faithful to refresh us once again by His understanding, compassion and tenderness. He will put His gentle arms around us and hold us close to His loving heart and reassure us that He loves us and will protect us. It is always safe to trust Jesus because He does not lie.

If today you are feeling lonely, depressed, discouraged, broken hearted hurting, or are in the middle of a crisis, jump into the well of living water and let Jesus revive you with His love, mercy, compassion, tenderness, understanding and hope. Let’s push our children into the well of the living water by our prayers, our actions and our kind words.
