Have you ever felt completely alone and said to Jesus “Here we go again. It’s just You and me, Jesus”? I have said that many times in my life. Without warning, something will happen to shake my world upside down. Thank God that we have the assurance that Jesus will always be with us no matter what comes against us or who appears to turn against us. A friend who I have known for almost twenty years called me on the telephone last year and told me that someone she trusted had turned against her and she didn’t know what she had done. I told her to tell Jesus and let Him comfort her.
There’s a song that I love and used to sing all the time but I can’t remember all the words “As you travel along on the Jericho Road, there’s room for just two, just Jesus and you. Each burden He’ll bear each sorrow He’ll share. There’s never a care when Jesus is there”. That is so true; there is never a care when Jesus is with us. We may be sad, lonely, depressed, heartsick and scared but we can still rejoice because Jesus is with us and He will bring us through the devastating circumstances into glorious victory.
Today if you are hurting and feel like everyone has withdrawn their love and friendship from you, reach up and take the hand of Jesus. He will be the greatest friend you have ever known. He will go with you through the valleys and heartaches and He will rejoice with you when you are on the mountaintops. Jesus knows what it is like to be rejected and criticized so He really does understand how you feel. There is no friend like Jesus!
