I was watching a family program on television just now, but I had to stop in the middle of it to write this. It was about a boy who could not talk and how frustrated his dad was because they couldn’t communicate. He refused to send his son to school because he would never learn so why waste the time when his son could be helping him.
There was a girl who taught the boy sign language and the boy learned rapidly. The last part of the program that I watched showed the girl trying to convince the dad that he could now communicate with his son by sign language. The dad still didn’t believe her. She asked him, “Why won’t you believe me? What do you want to say to him”? He said, “Tell my son to show me his mother’s picture”. The girl showed the dad how to sign it to him and his son brought the picture.
The dad got all choked up and said “I want to tell my son that I love him”. The girl showed him how to sign it to his son and his son signed it back. The dad and son hugged each other with great emotion on their faces.
If we would concentrate on the language of the heart, we wouldn’t have as many heartaches and problems in our marriages and relationships with siblings, parents, and loved ones. Jesus shows us His Love every day through people. Let’s look beneath the words our loved ones say to what they are saying with their hearts.
