NEITHER DO I

“She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”

John 8: 11 King James Version

I’m reading a book about capital punishment and many times I’ve had tears in my eyes and in my heart. I believe with all my heart that if people knew that someone really loved them, they would not do these terrible things.

This verse says, “Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more”. Some people may say that doesn’t apply to people who kill someone and to those who abuse children because they deserve to die. I’m reminded of what Jesus said after He had been tortured, ridiculed, spat upon, and beaten beyond recognition. Even while He was being crucified, He said “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do”. (Luke 23: 34)

If we really believe in people being executed for murder and for abuse to children, then countless people should be put to death. Every time a parent tells a child he or she was not wanted, that parent is killing the child emotionally and scarring him or her for the rest of the child’s life. That parent should also be executed if we really believe in enforcing capital punishment.

Every one of us, if we are honest with ourselves, has at one time in our life said something unkind to someone else. When we say something sarcastic and critical to people, we are just as guilty of pulling the trigger on a gun or plunging a knife into the person’s back. In reality, what we are doing is plunging the knife deep into the person’s heart and killing his or her self confidence and sense of worth. Let’s love people to Jesus.
