NO EXCUSES

“And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.”

When I walked down the aisle to the front of the church during the invitation hymn one bright and sunny Sunday morning in 1998 and surrendered to the mission field, I had no idea what God wanted me to do. I just knew that He was calling me to be a missionary. I knew that I wasn’t supposed to be a foreign missionary, that I was to be a home missionary. God had already confirmed that to me.

Pastor David said the most beautiful prayer for me. When he finished praying, I asked him how I would know what God wanted me to do. Pastor David told me that I would know because God would speak to my heart and that I would have peace about it. My pastor said “Don’t wait until God tells you where He wants you to go. Start serving Him right now, right where you are.”

God spoke to my heart on January 24, 2005 and told me that Pensacola, FL was where He wanted me to serve Him. When God gave me the ministries of encouraging pastors and writing devotions when Jesus inspires them, I acted just like Moses did. I told God that I couldn’t write or encourage pastors. I was afraid to talk to anyone.

God told me the same thing that He told Moses, that He would be with me and teach me. No, we don’t have any excuses not to tell others about Jesus and His amazing and unconditional love. Have you dedicated your life to serving Jesus? He may not call you to be a full time missionary, a pastor, or an evangelist, but He calls all of us to tell others of the good news of our risen Saviour. Are you telling others of the love of Jesus? Have you trusted God to be with you and to help you? If not, I urge you to open your mouth and He will be faithful to put the words He wants you to say in your mouth.
