Two friends were talking and one of them said “I’m not in the mood for Christmas”. Her friend replied “Neither am I”. How tragic that we have made the celebration of the birth of our Saviour to be meaningless! Jesus is Christmas and Christmas is Jesus! I don’t think Jesus was in the mood to be crucified on that dark, lonely and horrible day but He did it anyway out of His great love for us.
My Mother passed away on Christmas Day several years ago but our family did our best to keep our spirits up the following Christmas. We had painful memories and sad moments but we tried to encourage each other. Christmas is not about our feelings. It is not about parties, decorations, gifts and worldly things. It is the celebration of the birth of our precious Saviour.
What would happen if we would start rejoicing right this minute over the birth of our Saviour? We would not only celebrate Christmas as it is supposed to be honored, we would make the heart of Jesus happy. Christmas is next month and people are already buying gifts and making plans. Let’s start making plans to make Jesus happy on His birthday. Jesus said “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me”. (Matthew 25: 40) Let’s give Jesus a wonderful birthday present by being kind and loving to everyone we see. The greatest gift you can give Jesus is your heart. Have you invited Him into your heart to be your personal Saviour?
