Not The Answer

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11: 28 King James Version

When I was in therapy and in different support groups all the years I went through the crippling depression, they would tell us not to think negative. This sounds like a good thing to do, however they didn’t tell us to think about Jesus and to go to Him. Jesus is the only answer to depression.

The counselors would tell us that they really cared about us but none of them ever called us on the weekends to see how we were doing. When someone is struggling with devastating depression, weekends and holidays are the worse for them. This is the time when they really need someone. Yes, the world has established hotlines that you can call, but it is not personal. You don’t know the counselor on the other end of the phone.

Sad to say, even people who are preaching are reluctant to get involved personally. One time I called this preacher because I liked the sermons and I wanted prayer, I was told this preacher never talks to anyone over the phone. Jesus got personally involved with people. He ministered to all the needs of the person. I have read about doctors that used to get involved with their patients personally. They found jobs for their patients, took them out to eat, and knew each patient’s family.

We need to follow the example of Jesus and minister to all needs of a person, not just what we think they need. No, the world’s counseling is not the answer to heartaches. Jesus is the answer to every situation you face. Only He can wipe the tears from your heart. Reach out to the One Who Loves you unconditionally.
