Now That I Know You

“If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.”

John 14: 7 King James Version

A very dear friend that has been reading my writings told me yesterday that now that she knows me more she will read the writings with a different outlook and that they will mean more to her. When you fall in love with Jesus, you will read His Word with a different outlook and the Bible will mean more to you.

I started reading the Bible because I knew that I was supposed to do that as a Christian. Then, I kept reading it because it brings so much comfort to me. One day, I fell in love with Jesus and I began to see His Heart when I read the Bible. I began to feel, not just read, His pain and horror when we tortured Him and hung Him on the cruel Cross.

We may not have been there that day at Calvary, but we are just as guilty as if we were the ones who pounded those nails into the Hands of our Saviour. Every time that we say cruel words to someone, we pound another nail into Him. When we do things to hurt someone, we break His Heart a little more.

I received an email yesterday from someone who asked me how she could get to know Jesus. She said that she was saved, but wanted to know Him. I told her that it is just like with anyone else, to know someone you have to spend time with the person. We must spend time with Jesus on a daily basis if we are going to know His Heart and what makes Him happy.

Do you know Jesus, or is He just Someone you read about in the Bible. Yes, you may have invited Him into your heart, but do you really know Him?
