One Point

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.”

James 2: 10, 11 King James Version

Someone made the statement in an email, “My husband is always scolding me for smoking, yet he drinks alcohol”. We are so quick to judge people and point out their sins. We adopt an attitude that says “I would never do that”.

We place so much emphasis on sexual sins and on someone who kills, yet we need to realize that if a person does not commit a sexual sin, but kills someone that person is just as guilty of a sexual sin. All of us at one time or other in our lives has killed someone’s heart by our hateful and criticizing words.

Instead of concentrating on all the terrible things that someone else is doing, we need to concentrate on keeping our own hearts right before Jesus. We need to stop being so critical of others, and start praying for them with a heart filled with love for them.

Yes, sin is wrong and we are to hate the sin, but we are to love the sinner and realize but for the Grace of God, it could be me. O friends, if we would fall in love with Jesus and pattern our hearts and attitudes after Him, we would have a support system that all hell couldn’t tear apart.

If you are struggling with something in your life that you know makes Jesus unhappy, give it to Him and allow Him to help you stop doing it. Sometimes, the struggle is long and we are weak, it is then that the Grace, Understanding, and Saving Power of Jesus goes to work in our lives.
