ONLY A LITTLE STONE

“Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”

Matthew 17: 19, 20 King James Version

Often we have mountains in our lives that seem impossible to climb but Jesus said it is because of our unbelief. There is no doubt in my mind at all that if I really believed Jesus would take all the extra pounds from my body, He would do it immediately. However my faith is weak in this area. It is never Jesus’ fault that we have so many unresolved problems in our lives. He has already provided the solution; He is the solution.

If we would stop trying to fix things ourselves and take them to Jesus the minute we realize it is a mountain that we can’t climb, it wouldn’t be a mountain any longer; it would be a little stone. All of us need encouragement and the Bible is very clear that we are to be encouragers to one another. However, Jesus is the only one who can do anything about the situation and we waste time and energy by trying to fix it ourselves.

We can pray about what seems to be a gigantic mountain in our lives and ask our loved ones to pray for us but when it comes right down to it, if we don’t really believe in our hearts that Jesus can and will do it, our prayers will not be answered. Sometimes we have sin in our lives that hinders Jesus from working in our behalf.

If we have unforgiveness, anger, jealousy, sarcasm and criticism in our hearts, our prayers will not be answered. We don’t have any right to ask Him for help if we have sin in our hearts. We should ask Him to forgive us and remove those things from our hearts that hurt Him before we ask Him for anything. How dare we ask Him for something when our hearts are not right before Him and we are breaking His heart! I think sometimes we take Him for granted and forget that He is to be respected.

I don’t know what mountains you are facing in your life today but I know that Jesus can take them away if you will only believe Him. You may have a mountain of loneliness and hurt in your heart and it feels like you are all alone in the world. I can tell you on the authority of the Word of God and from personal experience that Jesus is the answer to every heartache and burden.

Only Jesus can put the joy and lights of hope back into our hearts when they are full of sadness and darkness. He picks us up, sets us on His lap of love, puts His strong arms of protection around us, and gently and tenderly kisses away the tears of hurt and loneliness. There is no one who loves like Jesus Loves us! There is no friend like Jesus! When I think of the Saviour of the world not only loving me, but also being my friend, my heart is filled to overflowing with happiness, joy and excitement!

Do you know this wonderful Friend? You may be saved, but do you really know Him? Is He first in your life? Does He come before everything and everybody? Have you given your all to Him or are you still holding something back for yourself? You may have given Him your money, but have you surrendered your time and talents to Him? Nothing we have belongs to us. It all belongs to Him. He gives it to us because He Loves us so much and wants make us comfortable and happy. I urge you to fall in love with Jesus and concentrate on making Him happy.
